Not Quite Dead Prison Guide - Weapon Parts And Risk Prep

Quick answer

Prison is a high-priority location intent because players connect it with weapon parts and dangerous runs, but exact room loot still needs fresh in-game mapping.

The Prison is one of the strongest launch-week location searches because players connect it with weapon parts, danger, and progression. This page is intentionally cautious: it helps you prepare for the run without pretending every room, spawn, or loot container has been mapped in the live Early Access build.

Quick Answer

Do not treat Prison as a first-five-minutes destination. Prison zombies are reported at about 2x normal zombie HP and are associated with Weapon Parts drops, so the location is useful but expensive. Prepare food, medical supplies, ammo, stamina space, and a return plan before committing.

Do not publish exact Prison coordinates, room recipes, guaranteed drop rates, or a fixed reward table until the live build is tested.

Before You Go

Use Prison as a planned expedition, not a panic run. The game is built around scarce resources, vehicles, looting, crafting, and threats, so a high-risk location should have a basic plan.

NeedWhy it matters
Medical itemsPrison runs can become expensive if zombie pressure stacks.
FoodLong searches punish players who enter already low.
Ammunition or a backup weaponYou may not get clean melee spacing indoors.
Stamina disciplineMelee and escape both depend on stamina.
Return routeGood loot only matters if you survive the trip back.

Combat Expectation

Treat Prison zombies as tougher targets than normal zombies. Public launch notes point to roughly tougher Prison zombies; that is enough to change the decision: bring more durability, ammunition, and exit discipline than you would for an ordinary roadside fight.

If your weapon cannot finish a normal group cleanly, upgrade or restock before testing Prison. A Weapon Parts drop is only valuable if the fight does not consume more resources than the upgrade path can repay.

Weapon Parts Caveat

Weapon Parts are a major reason to search for Prison information, and Prison zombies are the current lead to verify. Do not turn that into a guaranteed drop-rate claim. Early Access content can move, and player reports can come from older playtest builds.

The useful question is not just "Where is the Prison?" It is:

  1. Which build was tested?
  2. Was the run solo or co-op?
  3. Did Weapon Parts appear from zombies, containers, rewards, or another source?
  4. Were the results repeatable?
  5. Did a later update change loot tables or location layout?

If a guide cannot answer those questions, treat it as a lead rather than a map.

Route And Fight Advice

When approaching a dangerous location, scout first. If several zombies notice you before you enter, leave and reset the approach instead of forcing an indoor fight. A bad entrance usually turns into a bad exit.

Inside or near Prison, prioritize short checks over full clearing:

  • Identify exits before looting.
  • Stop searching if stamina is low.
  • Avoid firing near extra groups unless you are ready to leave.
  • Carry only loot you can afford to lose.
  • Return later if the route costs more than the reward.

When To Use A Vehicle

Vehicles are confirmed as part of exploration, but fuel is scarce. Use a vehicle for Prison only when it solves distance, cargo, or emergency escape. Do not burn fuel to make an unplanned run if you cannot carry the result safely.

Launch Check

Confirm these in the live build before publishing a route:

  • Prison map approach without exact coordinates unless verified.
  • Whether Prison zombies still have about 2x HP.
  • Whether Weapon Parts drop from Prison zombies, containers, quests, or several sources.
  • Whether host and client both receive or see the same loot outcome.
  • Whether enemy density changes after updates.

Checked

Checked on 2026-08-28 against public Steam and Steam Community signals. Exact Prison room routing and loot placement still need fresh Early Access verification.
